Filler injections are a procedure used to improve the appearance of wrinkles or scars, and can also be used to soften those stubborn creases between the mouth and the nose. In addition, Radiesse® can also be used to fill in areas where the skin has lost tissue. For example, acne scars, defects in the bridge of the nose, and hollowness of the cheeks.

This is a safe and simple procedure performed in the clinic. We inject a small amount of numbing anesthetic (lidocaine) with a very fine, small needle into specific locations to block pain sensations before we perform the procedure. Once the patient has adequate analgesia, a small needle is used to introduce the filler material into areas under the skin.

Restylane® and other new “fillers” have been approved by the FDA for several years for these indications. These fillers are a considerable advance in medical science. Previous fillers, although often effective, had a significant problem with side effects. These new fillers such as Restylane® do not have these problems.
